You’ve spent hundreds of hours wandering the wasteland of Fallout 4, killing random enemies and animals, and sometimes collecting their meat. Unfortunately, this was a total afterthought, possibly looking to see how much HP the meat gave you compared to the weight it took up in your inventory. This means you didn’t really collect all that much, which was fine.
However, with the release of Fallout 4: Wasteland Workshop, meat is very important. The most important seems to be Yao Guai meat, as this is used to attract and catch a Deathclaw. If you wanna do it, you’ll need to find some, so here’s a quick rundown of where to find yao guai meat in Fallout 4.
There are, of course, a few locations for this. We haven’t tagged every single one yet, but some stand out as more common for having yao guai, and being easily accessible. These are the small park to the southwest of the Boston Bugle building, where one yao guai usually spawns, the Fairline Hills Estate in the middle of the map, where 2 yao guai usually spawn, and the Rocky Narrows Park to the west, where another 2 will spawn.
Topping all of these though is a small ravine to the northwest of the Coastal Cottage, north of Dunwich Borers. This is pictured above on the map to help out. What makes this place so good? First of all, it can spawn around 3 or 4 yao guai, and they are all dead. They still have their meat though, so it’s all the benefit without the work…right? No. Unfortunately an Alpha Deathclaw has made this spot his home, so you either need to sneak it to grab the meat, or face it head on.
These are just some of the more common locations though, so don’t be surprised to see them elsewhere. If you’re hunting to find yao guai these are the best spots though, so hit them first and grab all the meat you can. After that you should be able to build the cage needed to catch a Deathclaw of your very own in Fallout 4: Wasteland Workshop.
For a final bonus, be sure to grab the Wasteland Survival Guide that is found in the Sunshine Trading’s Co-op. This powerup will double the amount of meat you find on dead animals, making hunting for more much easier.
